Episode 7: From Stress to Serenity: Finding Purpose and Identity Through Yoga and Meditation.
➡️ In this episode, we will hear from @shalinithyagaraja a seasoned technology professional, dedicated two decades to program management, strategy, and technology leadership. Her journey is not just about her impressive career but also about a deep-seated passion for holistic wellness that has transformed her life in meaningful ways.
☔ Seattle's long, rain-soaked months often confine one indoors. Shalini, seeking a new way to stay active and connected, turned to yoga. Initially intimidating, it became a transformative practice. Her first yoga class was not just about challenging poses but about an invigorating focus on breath and self-awareness. This experience, much like the challenging roles in her tech career, sparked a deep curiosity and commitment to explore more about yoga.
🧘♀️As her yoga practice deepened, she discovered a powerful tool for managing stress that resonated deeply with her personally and professionally. Yoga became a sanctuary where she could find peace amid the chaos of balancing a demanding career and family life. This profound transformation led her to become a certified yoga instructor and, later, to pursue certifications in health coaching and trauma-informed yoga. Her journey into coaching and teaching has been a natural extension of her desire to help others, inspired by her experiences in the tech world and her quest for balance.
🎙️I am excited to share this episode, in which you will learn how Yoga, pranayama, and meditation are effective tools for reconnecting with yourself, managing stress, and refocusing on purpose.

Episode 6: Invisible Struggles, Visible Strength: A Dentist’s Journey Through Epilepsy, Acceptance, and Advocacy
In this episode, we will explore the remarkable journey of Dr. Amee Shah —a dedicated dentist who has faced the challenges of epilepsy with incredible resilience and grace.
Amy is a dedicated healthcare professional in Chicago. Beyond her professional achievements, she is a passionate mental health advocate and openly shares her journey living with epilepsy. Dr. Shah is a powerful voice for those who cannot speak up for themselves, working to raise awareness and foster understanding about mental health and invisible illnesses. Her dedication to advocacy and her profession make her a respected figure in both the medical and mental health communities.
Epilepsy is a neurological condition characterized by recurrent seizures, affecting about 3.4 million people in the United States. Despite its prevalence, epilepsy often remains an invisible struggle, with many individuals facing not only the physical challenges of the condition but also the mental health impacts that come with it. The stigma and misconceptions surrounding epilepsy can exacerbate feelings of isolation and anxiety, making the journey even more difficult.
Dr. Amee Shah's experience with epilepsy began at a young age. Her first seizure at just eight years old set the stage for a lifelong journey of managing her condition while pursuing her dreams. As a full-time dentist, Amee has not only had to navigate the day-to-day realities of living with epilepsy but also advocate for mental health and invisible illnesses—issues that are often overlooked or misunderstood.
In this episode, we will explore how Amee’s experiences have shaped her commitment to advocacy and her role as hope for others facing similar challenges. We’ll explore how her journey has influenced her professional life, the importance of acceptance and self-care, and how she has used her voice to raise awareness and foster understanding.
We’ll also discuss the broader impact of epilepsy on mental health in America, where societal pressures and cultural stigmas can make it difficult for individuals to seek help and support. Amee’s story is a powerful reminder that despite invisible struggles, strength and resilience can shine brightly.

In episode #2, titled "Beyond Burnout: Navigating Women's Health in the Corporate Arena." We delve into a crucial topic of workplace stress and its impact on women’s health. I'm your host, Kristen Burke. Together, we'll explore the challenges faced by women in the corporate world, the impact on their health, and how they have overcome their health issues.
Burnout has become an all-too-common phenomenon in the fast-paced and demanding corporate environment, affecting individuals across all workforce levels. However, the impact on women's health is particularly profound. Juggling multiple roles, battling stereotypes, and striving for perfection affect their physical and mental well-being.
For many women, the journey through burnout is marked by exhaustion, stress, and a sense of overwhelm. The constant pressure to excel at work while managing household responsibilities can lead to sleep disturbances, anxiety, and even depression. Moreover, societal expectations and workplace cultures that undervalue self-care only exacerbate these challenges.
Amidst these struggles, there are stories of resilience and triumph. Women who have faced burnout head-on have emerged more robust, healthier, and empowered. They've recognized the importance of prioritizing their well-being and have taken proactive steps to reclaim their health.
